Jeffree Star Cosmetics Liquid Velour Lipstick in Blue Velvet, Jaw Breaker, and Abused |
Review:
I haven't reviewed Jeffree Star Cosmetics as a brand yet on this blog, but I have been raving about these velour liquid lipsticks on Instagram for some time now.
Pigmentation:
They are very pigmented. Some of the lighter shades require two coats in order to swatch but for the most part all the shades just require one coat to apply evenly enough for everyday wear. Some of the more pastel hues require two coats.

Packaging:
The tubes are pretty much identical in shape and size the Dose of Colors liquid lipsticks. They have Barbie pink caps and metallic stars and lettering. They are ideal for photographing and a great size to fit in small purses.

Shades:
The colors are all very bold and pretty unique as well. I am really surprised that some of these wild colors are actually quite wearable. There are currently 13 shades and sneak peaks of at least two upcoming shades have popped up on Instagram. The three blues that I am swatching today are intended to be limited edition but so far all the limited edition shades from the Jeffree Star line have been rereleased as part of the permanent collection and I suspect that may happen with these.

Wear:
This line is very long lasting. You can eat and drink and not worry about your lipstick budging. Like all long wear matte lipsticks they claim to be kiss proof, but are not, at least not the way I kiss…
They are a bit on the drying side but no more so than many other liquid lipstick brands. I would say they are comparable to Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipsticks in terms of drying.

Price:
These lipsticks run for $18 and are occasionally available in bundles of three for a discounted price. This is about standard for liquid lipstick but with La Girl, Colourpop, and LaSplash having released liquid lipsticks they are not very competitive as far as price is concerned. This isn't really a surprise seeing as Jeffree Star is known for being extravagant and having expensive taste. They are worth the price in my opinion.

Overall:
I am having a love affair with this line. I definitely recommend them to any liquid lipstick addict like myself. I find them very low maintenance to wear and always get compliments. If you are not an avid collector but want to try the brand I recommend going with one of the more wild shades like I Am Royalty or Prom Night. The nudes are beautiful but you can find similar colors from less expensive lines if you aren't maniacally obsessed (like I am) with getting the entire line.
